Later, Emperor Chongzhen sent Zhu Cilang away and began to read the "Jixiao Xinshu" that Empress Zhou found for him.

This is the 14-volume version, which was compiled by Qi Jiguang in his later years based on the 18 volumes of "Jixiao Xinshu" and "Lianbing Shiji", after his experiences in fighting against Japanese pirates in the south and resisting invaders in the north.

The whole book covers almost every aspect of military training activities from selecting soldiers and organizing them into troops to practicing courage, commands, skills, camp formations, as well as actual combat drills, city guarding and scouting, selecting and training generals, etc. It covers both land and sea, and is comprehensive, equivalent to a complete training manual.

When Emperor Chongzhen led the army to war, he did not have to personally select soldiers, train soldiers, or fight the enemy, but he had to have relevant knowledge. Otherwise, it would be impossible for an outsider to command the insiders to win all the time.

A basic principle is to know yourself and the enemy, so that you can win every battle. You can't be like the transport captain, who only knows the literal strength of troops, what a million-strong army, the advantage is mine!
