The fifteenth day of the first lunar month is one of the most important traditional festivals in China, the Lantern Festival.
Logically speaking, the Lantern Festival must be celebrated with lantern viewing, eating rice dumplings, eating Yuanxiao, guessing lantern riddles, setting off fireworks, etc., which add to the festive atmosphere and put an end to the Spring Festival.
But on the Lantern Festival of the 15th year of Chongzhen, there was no lively scene at all in the city of Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, or it could be said that there was no atmosphere that the Lantern Festival should have.
Occasionally there were pedestrians on the road, but they all walked hurriedly with their heads down, as if there was a man-eating tiger on the street.
It's true that there are people walking around the streets and alleys of Nanchang with arrogant steps, and they all have one thing in common, that is, they are soldiers wearing military uniforms and holding swords and guns.
