The burning bonfire illuminated the night sky. The sound of drums rang out in the desolate desert. The plump and enchanting dancers twirled and danced beside the bonfire, their bare feet stepping on the yellow sand. The anklets were engraved with strange patterns, announcing to the world that they were the property of the band's owner and could be treated as slaves to be bought and sold.
Jasper Caldwell sat quietly beside another bonfire. The sound of drums reached her ears, but her mind had already drifted away.
This was the third day of the journey to the deserted city. In just a few days, Jasper Caldwell had seen six or seven different teams, including caravans, orchestras, and tribes migrating in pursuit of water and grass. He even met a group of herdsmen who were attacked by bandits during their migration and were separated from their tribe.
When wandering with the green lizard, Jasper Caldwell always walked in places with worse environments. After meeting Rowan Hawthorne and Siculus in succession, he became more determined to stay away from people. He lived in the desert for two or three months, living with animals all day long and hardly meeting any people.
Of course, the desert bandits who broke into the deserted city and the witch with ulterior motives are not included.
