Nowadays, Xizhou has markets on both sides of the central street. Due to their different locations, the two markets are called East Market and West Market by the people.
Although the West Market was built earlier, most of the shops there are ordinary merchants with small stores. The East Market is different. Most of the shops here are branches of major commercial companies in the West State.
For example, Ruyifang and Shenduxuan closed their original stores in the West Market and found new stores with larger storefronts and better locations in the East Market.
Today's East Market is mostly occupied by calligraphy and painting shops, jewelry stores, music, chess, calligraphy and painting galleries, food shops and restaurants, etc., with all kinds of rare and precious goods from all over the world.
Most of the businesses in West Market were iron shops, meat shops, small wine shops, cloth shops, etc., which sold most of the things that people needed in their daily lives.
