1842, the 22nd year of Daoguang's reign
In April, the British army captured Zhapu, and in May they attacked Baoshan and Shanghai. Jiangnan Admiral Chen Huacheng died in battle.
In June, the British army fell into Zhenjiang and advanced towards Jiangning. Vice-capital Commander Hai Ling set himself on fire and died. Yangzhou salt merchants offered 500,000 taels of silver to avoid disaster.
In July, with Qiying, Yilibu and Niujian as ministers with full power, they went to the British warship to negotiate peace and signed the Treaty of Nanjing.
In November, some people harassed Qinghai and were ordered to attack them.
