When dinner was served, Max Ye was still hiding in the bathroom. Three or five minutes later, he opened the door and came out. His eyes were not as red anymore, and a few strands of wet hair were draped over his forehead, as if he had just washed his face.
Ethan Cheng handed him the chopsticks. He whispered "thank you" in a low voice, his voice a little hoarse. He didn't dare to raise his head, as if he wished he could find a hole in the ground to hide in. Ethan Cheng felt inexplicably at a loss and didn't know what to say to melt the solidified air.
It was Max Ye who loosened his hand first. Like a rabbit awakened from a nightmare, he jumped up and ran into the bathroom and closed the door, leaving Ethan Cheng standing alone in the living room, looking down at the hand he had held, without moving for a long time.
Now everyone has returned to normal, but one can clearly feel that things are different from before.
Even though there is only a door between them, it is still different from confronting each other face to face. A big hole is torn in the door in front of them. It is covered with paper, wooden boards, and bodies, but the hole with jagged edges still exists, forcing the people standing on both sides to look each other in the face.
