In 1999, there was the panic of doomsday prophecies and the joy of entering a new century, which was contradictory and yet deeply entangled.
This year, China's movie box office fell to an unprecedented low. Zhang Yimou won the Golden Lion Award; Jia Zhangke was banned; Wang Changtian, Wang Zhonglei, Yu Dong and other private film and television enterprise bosses began to officially enter the film industry; and in the Oriental Hollywood Hong Kong, Zhou Goichi topped the annual box office championship with "The King of Comedy", and Du Qifeng established the quality of Milkyway Image with "Gunfire".
This year, the Chinese music scene was surging. Xie Tingfeng took over the mantle of the Four Heavenly Kings with the song "Thank You For Your Love 1999"; Mayday from Formosa Province emerged; Park Sook-ze became a popular young man on campus with "Birch Forest"; and mainland rock music has not seen a new life since the Hung Hom concert; the 16-year-old Da Zhangwei became a dazzling new star with the Huaer Band; as for Zhou Jielun, he was still staying in the basement, eating instant noodles and writing songs.
The most explosive Hong Kong entertainment news of the year was that Wu Qili nodded and admitted on TV that she was pregnant with Cheng Long's child. Afterwards, Cheng Long held a press conference to explain the Little Dragon Girl incident and uttered the famous sentence "I did the wrong thing that all men in the world have done, and it could also be said that it was for fun at the moment."
The ups and downs of the world follow the waves.
