"Knock knock."

After waiting for a long time, there were several slight knocks on the door. Yan Bai, who was sitting at the desk handling official business, put down the documents and went to open the door for someone who was deliberately dawdling.

The door lock popped open with a click, and the boy's light brown pupils suddenly dilated. He obviously didn't expect the man to have such an abnormal behavior. He turned around and walked back to the desk. Yan Bai said calmly: "Come in."

The boy moved slowly into the study, his reluctance almost written on his face. However, the moment he met Yan Bai's eyes, he suddenly raised his chin and straightened his back.

The other person had an arrogant expression, but had limp wet hair. Looking at the boy's pajamas, which were the same style as his own but obviously too big, Yan Bai felt like he had seen a kitten that had fallen into the water.

"Sit down." After all, they were in their own territory. After changing out of his suit, Yan Bai looked much more approachable than usual. He pointed to the armchair opposite the desk and nodded at Lin Guo without any expression.

One command and one action, did Yan Bai treat him as a manipulable puppet? Lin Guo silently complained in his heart, but he still sat on the chair obediently according to the other party's instructions.

Although he didn't know why Yan Bai tried so hard to conceal the fact that he had heart disease, but considering the other party's not-so-smooth success experience, Lin Guo knew that the reason was nothing more than a few expected routines.

Sure enough, when he sat on the chair with his body tense, the man who was wearing the same dark blue pajamas as him said straight to the point: "I don't believe in human hearts, so we'd better sign an agreement."

A bunch of thin documents were pushed towards him by the other party with his big, bony hands. Lin Guo took them with a bit of confusion, but in his heart he was wondering how fast this man was moving.

He only delayed for a short while by taking a shower, changing clothes and drafting the contract, but why did the other party seem to have been waiting for him for several hours?

But there was nothing wrong with the document. It was just a very ordinary confidentiality contract. Lin Guo quickly scanned the Song-style size 5 font on the A4 paper and raised an eyebrow at the blank space at the "related compensation" section: "What does this mean?"

"Whatever you want to fill in," Yan Bai leaned back and raised his eyebrows in return, "I can afford it."

It was clearly the same expression, but Lin Guo's facial features were soft and he lacked some momentum. Realizing that he had lost the battle, he sneered, "Including the entire Yan family?"

"As long as you can eat it."

The man answered nonchalantly, as if he didn't care about the so-called Yan family at all. However, Lin Guo, who had read the original novel, not only did not believe his lies, he even snorted in his heart - facing a careerist who would die suddenly from illness because of the destruction of his company, he would be a fool to touch the other party's reverse scale.

"I have no interest in you or your Yan family," Lin Guo brushed the obvious blank space and shook the contract in his hand, "Leave it blank for now, and I'll fill it in when I think it through."

As if he had confirmed his harmlessness through such a civilized means as the contract, the boy's limbs unconsciously relaxed. Yan Bai sat there leisurely, watching the other party's slender white fingertips move across the contract.

"What about the price of breach of contract?" After a few seconds, the boy frowned as expected, "Why is there no price of breach of contract written on it?"

"There's no need to write it," Yan Bai heard himself answering, "From the moment you leaked the secret, this contract is invalid."

"Because the other party will die."

"Crash."

The snow-white papers fell from his fingers like butterflies with broken wings. The boy opened his clear eyes wide, and Yan Bai could even find the black muzzle of the gun in them.

The gun held in his hand.

"I said, I'm not interested in other people's gossip."

His fingers were shaking and his expression was pitiful, as if he was about to cry but couldn't. However, the boy still held his chin high and his back was as straight as a newly grown bamboo.

Suddenly, the deepest heartstring was touched, and Yan Bai suddenly felt a little pity for the other party. He threw the gun aside casually, and then waved to Lin Guo: "Come here."

The chair that was pushed back made a squeaking noise. The man stared at the boy who was walking towards him without blinking, and was amused to find that the other party was a little clumsy.

The study was eerily quiet. Lin Guo walked stiffly to the empty seat the man had left for her and secretly glanced at the pistol placed on the corner of the table.

To rob or not to rob, this is really a thought-provoking question.

But before he could come up with a conclusion, the boy with his eyes drooped was hugged by the man in a very awkward posture.

Even though Yan Bai was sick, his chest was still unreasonably strong and hard. Lin Guo's nose felt sore because of the man's sudden action, and tears immediately welled up in her eyes.

"I thought you were just a young master who would never grow up, but I didn't expect you to be somewhat like me." The extremely cold fingers brushed across the back of Lin Guo's neck, causing him to shiver involuntarily. Someone pressed his back near the waist lightly, and Lin Guo didn't want to follow the other person's force and sit on the carpet that the two of them had just stepped on, so he sat directly on Yan Bai's legs.

The muscle under his b*tt*cks, separated by only two layers of cloth, suddenly turned into a hard stone. Lin Guo was stunned for a moment before he realized what a stupid thing he had just done. However, Yan Bai did not give him any time to regret. He held down Lin Guo's left shoulder and gently pinched his chin with his other hand - "Why, are you still crying?"

Sensitively aware of the displeasure in Yan Bai's tone, Lin Guo, driven by the instinct to complete the task, gave the most correct answer without hesitation: "It was all your fault."

The boy tried his best to look fierce, but he only looked fierce because of his blocked nose. Yan Bai's eyes softened and he stopped his right hand that wanted to push the boy to the ground.

Seeing that the man didn't refute, the boy continued to accuse him as if he had been opened up: "You still say that you are good friends with my father, Yan Bai, is there any 'good friend' who treats his friend's son like you do?"

"I just saved your life out of guilt. Even if you want to save face and keep it secret, you shouldn't be so aggressive, right?" Lin Guo sniffed and wiped away the tears from her eyes. "No wonder the news said that you can't help an old man who fell to the ground. Today I saw an old man who repaid kindness with enmity."

"It's fine if I just pay you money, but you actually want me to pay with my life," the young man said with red eyes, grabbing the man's collar and gritting his teeth, "Yan Bai, listen carefully! If I die here, you won't have a good life either."

The Lin family's influence in S City is not in vain. After recovering from the threat of the gun, the young man spoke with more confidence.

"I'm just used to saying ugly things upfront. I can't afford to make any mistakes on this matter."

He doesn't have much time left.

Grasping the other person's wrist with some skill, Yan Bai calmly rescued his collar from the boy's hand, leaned forward to take the spare contract, and Yan Bai's breath slid lightly over the boy's ear.

"As long as you don't say it, it's a promise I owe you." The tightly clenched fingers were pried open and new paper was inserted. The man's tone was just like the coaxing in the flower room that night, "A promise without a bottom line, isn't it?"

Why are you so afraid of others finding out that you are sick?

Lin Guo subconsciously wanted to ask this question which was not mentioned in the original book, but the professional instinct engraved in his bones still made him successfully suppress his impulse. Blinking, Lin Guo emptied his mind and pretended to be reluctantly convinced by the other party.

The boy broke free from the man's legs like a cat and jumped off. He quickly picked up the pen on the table, signed his name, and then slammed the contract in front of the man.

"Are you relieved? Just for something that may not even have any legal effect?" Looking directly into Yan Bai's dark eyes for the first time, the young man gained a certain advantage by relying on his standing posture. "My answer has always been the same. It doesn't matter whether I have this thing or not."

The feeling of being entangled by a snake came through Yan Bai's eyes again. Lin Guo stared back at it without fear, without any intention of dodging out of guilt.

------Everyone in this world could hurt Yan Bai, except Lin Guo.

Because he came here just for Yan Bai.

The best thing that the villain must have.

This was undoubtedly a silent confrontation and contest, but just when Lin Guo thought Yan Bai would say something to threaten him, he nodded calmly: "I understand."

This is the feeling of hitting cotton! Lin Guo, who had already prepared for a show of counterattack, gritted his teeth and swallowed the blood in his throat.

"Aren't you going to sleep?" Catching the two lively little flames in the boy's eyes, Yan Bai glanced at the clock and smiled slightly, "Or... the little baby needs to be held in uncle's lap before he can sleep?"

Ling Shiyi's strange laughter sounded in his mind. Lin Guo took a step back and left the study without hesitation.

As God knows, he really has no interest in taking advantage of an old man.

The door was closed with normal force. The boy's good upbringing allowed him to maintain his etiquette at the last moment. Looking at the word "Lin Guo" at the bottom of the contract that almost tore through the paper, Yan Bai picked up the pen and signed his name in neat handwriting.

This silly child can't even take the benefits that are rightfully his own, let alone fight for them.

But he was so much like himself. Covering his eyes with one hand, Yan Bai took out a small medicine bottle from the drawer with a password as if he was familiar with the procedure.

If those things hadn't happened, I would have been as happy as Lin Guo.

Even if he had to suppress his emotions, even if he had to stay away from crying, laughing, and scolding, he could still accept everyone's admiration under the sun with his innate pride and enjoy his parents' love and protection without any worries.

Such a lively and innocent child, his life is really...

envy.

The dull pain in his chest brought Yan Bai back to his confused thoughts. He put the specially made lozenge into his mouth expressionlessly, skillfully suppressing all the inappropriate emotions.

The debt has not been paid off yet, so he cannot make any mistakes at this time.
