All the candles in the room were extinguished, with only a tiny bit of light coming in through the gap between the curtains. Brian stood barefoot on the carpet, pointing at the bed in a bad mood.
"What are you still standing there for?"
Xavier's eyes were fixed on his feet, which he had not had time to put on shoes. After hesitating for a moment, he slowly knelt down on his knees and held up one of his bare feet.
"You'll get sick if you do this." Xavier said firmly, covering his hands with his own, pulling out a pair of socks from the drawer beside the bed, and putting them on him slowly and unquestioningly.
It was obviously cold outside, but his palms were as hot as if they were lit by a stove.
