The sound of rain was heavy. Max Fang stood on the hillside in front of the house. It was pitch black all around. He could only rely on the fleeting lightning in the sky to check the terrain below.
Max Fang stumbled as he walked. There was a bamboo forest halfway up the mountain, and someone had dug up some bamboo shoots. Max Fang didn't check and stepped into the bamboo shoot pit, splashing half his pants with rainwater.

Max Fang looked around and was surrounded by eerie shadows of trees. He wiped the rain off his face, stepped off the ground, and suddenly reached out to hold on to the tree trunk beside him.
A flash of lightning crackled in the distant night sky. In that instant, through the heavy rain and fog, Max Fang and another pair of eyes met in mid-air.
