The nights on the island are very quiet. People who live in the city and are used to the chaos suddenly face such an island, which is somewhat uncomfortable. Especially Max Fang, his profession is to work 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. When he is busy, there is no difference between night and day. Occasionally, when he has a few days off, he will call friends to drink and sing, or play cards. Entertainment and socializing are also part of his daily work.
It stands to reason that if Max Fang suddenly came across such a holiday island without work, he would definitely sleep in the room for seven days and seven nights without moving. Unfortunately, this island is not a holy place for leisure and vacation, but an abyss that eats lives.
Tonight is destined to be a sleepless night.
The long conference table in the lobby on the first floor was full of people again.
Li Jason Si sat in the corner, crossed his legs, and lowered his head to play with his ID card, the corner of the card tumbling back and forth between his hand and the table. Grace Yang sat at the top, polishing her nails. She had painted her nails with mango-colored nail polish, but she scratched them until they were mottled, like a neurotic person. The young couple still sat together.
Max Fang held the cardboard box while Lily Ding distributed clothes and water to the people sitting there. It looked like a lot of things, but they were actually quite tight. Max Fang himself only got three bottles of mineral water and two packs of compressed biscuits. The girls got a little more, but it was still not enough to support the food needs for seven days and nights.
There were still four or five people who had not come down, and Max Fang placed their water in front of their empty seats.
A middle-aged man looked at the T-shirt that was distributed to him, then looked down at his body, and said with a fake smile: "This is obviously a poor hospitality. There is no larger size?"
This uncle looked like a successful man, wearing a shirt and trousers, serious and imposing. Judging from his face, he must have been good-looking when he was young, and his figure was also maintained. However, after all, he is no longer young, and it is still a bit difficult to squeeze into this tight one-size-fits-all T-shirt. Max Fang remembered him. He was quite calm during the day, not like others who were easily startled, and seemed not easy to mess with.
"We don't have large sizes, all are one size fits all," Li Jason Si raised his eyelids and glanced at the man, "You can make do with whatever you have."
The big boss didn't move much during the day, his white shirt was clean, not to mention blood stains, he didn't even sweat much, and he didn't really need clothes. He looked around and looked at Grace Yang who was sitting at the top: "Miss, what's your name?"
Grace Yang showed no emotion. He raised his head and uttered two words: "Grace Yang."
"Oh, my name is Du Chaosheng," Boss Du smiled slightly, with a shrewd look on his face, "Look, girl, we have to stay on this island for seven days anyway. Can't you just change your clothes once in seven days? Anyway, I can't wear this clothes, so I'll exchange it for a bottle of water from you, how about it?"
The young couple was snuggling together, and when the boy heard what Boss Du said, he looked up at each other. Max Fang was standing opposite him and accidentally saw that look. How to describe that look, there was a strange kind of concentration and thinking. When the box was found just now, the boy was half-knelt on the ground and joked with him. He was a casual person, not like the kind of person who would be hostile to others. Could he have guessed Boss Du's ID card based on these two sentences? Max Fang guessed a terrible possibility. He recalled Boss Du's words, but had no clue at all.
As a girl, Grace Yang got one more bottle of water and one more pack of biscuits than the men. She looked up at the white T-shirt, sneered, and said to Boss Du: "I'm not sure I can survive for seven days and seven nights, so this deal is not worth it for me."
Boss Du wanted to say something else, but the young couple looked at each other. The girl turned around and said to Boss Du, "Then, shall we switch with you?" The two of them mixed their drinking water together, looking as if they were determined to live and die together.
It turned out that they needed clothes. Max Fang felt relieved. If these people all had high IQs and were completely not in the same dimension as him, this game would be impossible to play.
Boss Du was stunned for a moment, but without asking any further questions, he pushed the clothes to the two of them and said with a smile, "What are your names?"
The boy stuffed a bottle of water into the other person's hand, without even looking up, and said coldly: "Evan Du, her name is Chen Hui."
The atmosphere in the hall was a little awkward.
Grace Yang's face fell inexplicably, and he snorted coldly: "You need to take an extra set of clothes every seven days? What do you want to do? You waste clothes like this."
Chen Hui didn't know what she was thinking of, her face suddenly turned red, she looked up at Grace Yang and retorted: "No! The suggestion made by that brother Li Jason Si is very good. We want to go around the island, but we may not be able to come back early the next morning, so we prepared an extra piece of clothing for these reasons."
Grace Yang curled his lips: "Yes, yes, yes, whatever you say is true."
Chen Hui wanted to say something else, but Evan Du beside her pulled her arm.
There was another middle-aged man sitting at the side of the table, in his fifties, timid and unable to sit up straight. He was shorter than Boss Du, but his figure was a little out of shape. He came out in a hurry and failed to button his shirt properly. At this time, he was licking his beer belly, which symbolized his age. His belly was pressed against the edge of the table, looking a little awkward.
"Me too, I can't wear it either. Look, can you guys exchange with me?" The man with a beer belly laughed and wiped his bald forehead with a handkerchief as he spoke.
No one paid any attention to him.
Grace Yang sneered, turned around, unscrewed a bottle of water and took a sip. The two young lovers were being affectionate, Chen Hui leaned her head on Evan Du's shoulder, bit his earlobe and whispered some sweet words in his ear.
Beer Belly put down his T-shirt awkwardly.
Lily Ding might have been afraid that her things would be replaced by others, so she picked up the things allocated to her and said with a smile: "I'll put these in the room first. Max Fang, aren't you going back to your room to sleep?" She might have been a little scared, and wanted to encourage Max Fang to go up as well so that he could keep her company.
Max Fang glanced at Li Jason Si.
Li Jason Si burst out laughing: "I'm asking you whether you want to sleep or not. What do you think I mean? Do you want to sleep with me tonight?"
Max Fang's face turned red instantly.
The speaker may not mean it, but the listener may take it seriously. Lily Ding blushed all of a sudden, and she realized that what she had just said was indeed a bit inappropriate, as if she was inviting someone to sleep together. She turned around and quickly ran upstairs.
Li Jason Si sat in the corner, his chin supported by his right hand, in a daze.
Max Fang watched the girl's back as she ran up to the second floor and sat down next to Li Jason Si with her chin resting on the table.
"The blood hasn't been wiped off yet." Li Jason Si glanced at him and said mockingly.
Max Fang suddenly stood up, straightened his back, and had an indescribable expression on his face, a little disgusted, and a little frightened.
Li Jason Si burst out laughing: "I'm kidding! It didn't splash here at all."
Max Fang gave him angrily a look.
"So what are everyone waiting for here?" Max Fang asked with a frown as he was becoming increasingly confused about the direction of the plot.
Li Jason Si glanced upstairs and smiled: "Wait for the ending."
"???" Max Fang had a black question mark face that looked like "What the Fcuk are you talking about?"
As if in response to him, a scream suddenly erupted from upstairs.
Hearing the girl's voice, Max Fang jumped up from his seat and ran up the stairs in two or three steps.
He bumped into Lily Ding at the end of the corridor on the second floor with a bang, and they collided head-on. The girl screamed in fear, waving her arms desperately in the air. She didn't feel relieved when she saw Max Fang's face, but struggled desperately to get past him and escape downstairs.
"Calm down!" Max Fang was hit by the girl several times. He frowned and hugged her lightly, comforting her, "Calm down, girl. What's going on? Why are you hiding?!"
Lily Ding looked up at him blankly for two seconds, then looked back at the empty corridor. The large French windows were open, the curtains were blown up by the wind, and the tassels at one corner of the curtains were flying in the dark corridor. The drinking water and biscuits she was given were scattered all over the floor, and her white T-shirt was thrown on the ground, like a person crawling on the ground.
The girl suddenly shuddered, and her body slowly softened. Max Fang could feel her muscles softening a little bit as he pressed against her. He quickly reached out to stop her, half-carrying and half-embracing her, and pulled her to the corner.
"Do you want to... go down?" Max Fang asked, "There are lights downstairs, turn it up a little."
Lily Ding waved his hands and broke free from his support. He held the brass handrail of the stairs with one hand, supported his leg with the other, and stared at his face vigilantly.
Max Fang looked up and exhaled, then raised his hands helplessly and said, "Don't be afraid, I really don't mean anything else. What happened to you?"
As they were talking, there were several clacking sounds on the stairs, and Evan Du and Chen Hui ran up from downstairs. A while later, Grace Yang also came up, perhaps because he felt that it was more dangerous for her to be downstairs with three unknown men. Several girls supported Lily Ding.
With more people around, Lily Ding calmed down a little.
Grace Yang looked impatient, but he still pushed the bottle of water in his hand to Lily Ding and unscrewed the cap for her: "Are you capable of anything? What happened? Is it really that serious?"
Lily Ding's hands were shaking all the time, but Max Fang didn't notice it just now. Now that she held the water bottle, Max Fang realized that the girl's hands were shaking and she spilled several mouthfuls of water, which made Grace Yang feel distressed.
She stared at the empty corridor with lifeless eyes, nervously stuffed two mouthfuls of water into her mouth, took a few deep breaths, and then spoke: "Just now, when I came up, there was a person hiding behind the curtains..." She pointed at the flying curtains, her face full of horror, and shuddered when she thought of the scene just now, "I feel something is wrong, a needle pierced my arm."
As she spoke, she turned over her arm, and everyone saw a bright red scratch on the outside of her upper arm.
It was quiet immediately. The breathing of several people was clearly audible. Someone swallowed his saliva. There was a gulp, which was very obvious.
Grace Yang shuddered: "Did you see who it was?"
Lily Ding cried and shook her head: "No, I was so scared that I just pulled my arms back and ran away. Will I die? Am I going to die? Who is the witch? Does anyone have an antidote? Please give me an injection!"
Max Fang's heart tightened.
Li Jason Si's voice came from below: "Don't panic, let me see."
Behind him, Boss Du and the man with a sweaty beer belly followed. Everyone looked nervous.
Lily Ding grabbed a life-saving straw and stretched out his arm to show Li Jason Si. Li Jason Si came closer and used his fingers to pry it open for a closer look.
The scar was long but shallow, only breaking the outermost layer of skin and oozing out some tiny beads of blood.
"It's okay," Li Jason Si looked at him carefully. His skin temperature was very low, and Lily Ding shuddered unconsciously. "It wasn't injected, so it'll be fine."
As he spoke, he calmly held down Max Fang's hand, which was just reaching into his waist pocket.
