Ethan Huo has learned a lot from Teacher Zhong these days.
The test song was the same, and it happened to be "Jiangbei" by Mei Heng, a song he had heard before.
There can actually be a big difference when the same song is sung by different people - from the pronunciation and transitions to the subtle handling of the transitions and ending sounds, you can tell whether the person has been trained by just comparing them.
He listened to Mr. Zhong's explanation and made some changes little by little, getting closer and closer to the standard singing method. But today, he was suddenly warned like this and felt a little confused.
"It's not that you sing badly, it's that you have no emotion." Teacher Zhong said: "You have made rapid progress in technique and breathing, but you just don't have emotion."
"This song is about the separation between lovers. The melody is long and the emotions are complex. You need to understand emotions to sing them out."
The man glanced at him, thought for a moment and said, "But you are still young and don't look like a child who is in love too early. It's normal that you can't sing."
The atmosphere in Mr. Zhong's class has always been very relaxed. A student raised his hand and asked, "Teacher, does it mean that you can't sing love songs well if you have never been in love?"
There was laughter from the audience.
The teacher knocked on the table seriously, cleared his throat and said, "If you haven't experienced something, you can only pursue skills."
He waved his hand, motioning Ethan Huo to go down and sit down.
"You have little experience, so it's normal that you don't understand. I guess there's not much story in your mind."
Ethan Huo frowned, bowed, and quietly stepped down from the stage.
"Teacher Zhong, Teacher Zhong, let's take a leave and go out to have a relationship and come back later!"
"Hahahaha, waiting for a little sister to have a first love online!"
"You don't have to be in love." Teacher Zhong was still thinking about how to explain this to them: "At least you have to be moved."
"You can only begin to understand when your heart is moved."
Ethan Huo has not yet been attracted to any of his peers. He has been concentrating on his studies in the past ten years and does not care what the girls in his class look like.
But I will be very excited when I see the notification of change in bank card balance.
As soon as the assessment was over in July, the nutritional allowance was issued when the results were announced, exactly fifteen hundred yuan.
This was the first time he received a salary, and it was equivalent to a month's worth of water for his mother.
Ethan Huo looked at his phone for a long time. It happened to be a day off, so he jogged all the way to the hospital.
The boy jumped rope for two hours every day. His physical strength increased a lot without him noticing. When he ran to the hospital, he was sweating a lot but his breathing was steady.
He held his cell phone tightly and ran straight to the inpatient department. Many nurses saw him and greeted him.
"Huo Huo is here?"
"Which school did the little champion go to~"
Ethan Huo hurriedly greeted them, turned a corner and ran to the door of bed number 14, wiped the sweat off his face, knocked on the door and went in.
Aunt Lu watched him grow up. Although they are not related by blood, they have a deep bond.
Aunt Lu and his mother were close friends. She helped his mother with her divorce lawsuit, attended her funeral, and later attended parent-teacher meetings and paid his mother's tuition. She was his last relative in this world.
But such a good person was diagnosed with uremia a year ago and now relies on oxygen and dialysis to maintain his life.
Doctor Martin was doing a routine check nearby. When he saw Ethan Huo coming, he nodded and said, "Your Aunt Lu's vital signs have been stable recently. Don't worry too much."
Aunt Lu looked very pale and spoke softly while leaning on the pillow.
She covered her hands, not wanting him to see the pinholes and bruises.
"Huo Huo is here?"
Ethan Huo fetched some water, cleaned the bedside table and bed for her, and then cleaned the ward carefully to let in the bright sunlight.
The woman felt a little guilty: "Your scholarship should not be given to..."
"Aunt Lu," Ethan Huo stopped and said, "Even if you don't agree, I will use it to pay for the medical expenses."
"I got my salary, 1,500 yuan." He straightened his back and smiled, "The teacher said I have made great progress and have a chance to join the group."
He actually didn't have the confidence, but he still wanted to reassure Aunt Lu.
Aunt Lu asked him to sit next to her and reached out to touch his face in a daze.
"What your mother misses most is... you."
"Don't spend the money you earn recklessly, don't let your father know, and take good care of yourself."
The boy sat with her for a while, thanked several doctors and nurses, and then trotted back to the company.
I just finished the exam in the morning and the results came out in the evening.
Although I work for an entertainment company now, the exams are still very similar to those in middle school, except that the interviews are more often held in small rooms.
The trainees sat in a lecture hall with five teachers in the first row, and the results began to appear on the screen.
"First place, Brandon Long, the total score of major and elective courses is 560, and Brandon Long scored 540."
"Connor is also tied for first place, with a score of 540."
The trainees applauded and turned to find their places in the crowd.
The two tall boys looked at each other, smiled and continued to watch the screen.
Today the score is 140 to 110. As long as you get into the top 110, you can stay and continue studying.
As the rankings moved down, more and more people began to put their hands together and pray silently.
"No. 62, Ethan Huo." Teacher Grace hesitated for a moment when she read this, but still read it out: "Both elective courses got full marks, very good."
"Teacher, what elective course did he take?" someone in the crowd asked.
"English speaking and music theory." Grace said, "Almost no one among the trainees chose this course. He studied with the trainees who were about to debut. He is quite impressive."
"Fcuk---"
"So there are people who actually take this kind of course?!"
Ethan Huo breathed a sigh of relief, knowing that he could stay here and get another month's salary.
Thirty people were eliminated that night, and the one hundred and ten people were divided into Class A and Class B in shuffled order, and the courses and dormitories were also reallocated.
When Ethan Huo walked into the dormitory with his luggage, he was recognized by someone: "Ah, you are the kid who practices piano every day!"
The trainees here are generally around 17 or 18 years old, and there are not many like him.
Ethan Huo nodded and glanced at the other people in the dormitory.
There was already someone lying on the bunk above me. He was wearing silver-rimmed glasses and was concentrating on playing PSP.
One of them was stretching in front of a mirror, and the other was talking to him. They were both people he had never seen before.
"You got full marks in this elective course, that's amazing," my roommate said with a smile, "If you really get into Corona, it would be considered a successful idol-chasing, right?"
Chasing...who?
Ethan Huo was about to ask what he meant when another roommate waved his hand and said, "Teacher Pei will have dance class tomorrow, why don't you practice?"
"Practice, practice, practice, here it comes!"
Ethan Huo put his things away and took another look at his upper bunk.
The man was wearing headphones and typing on his PSP. Ten minutes had passed and he showed no intention of getting up. He looked like an ordinary high school student.
As expected, the next day, Pei Ru left the new class aside and let them continue skipping rope, with no sign of her teaching them how to dance.
The assistant teacher was also used to this situation, and was very skilled in passing out the skipping ropes: "The standard is 4,000 jumps per hour, just jump as you like. If you get tired, remember to stretch your legs and relax before sitting down again!"
Pei Ru was also playing with his cell phone and waved his hand as a symbolic greeting to them.
Fifty-five people spread out in the practice room and began to train new jump ropes.
Ethan Huo has been practicing for a month and has gradually found the trick and breathing rhythm.
He deliberately slowed down and observed the speed of others in the corner.
Because the groups were completely shuffled, Long Ji Connor and several of his roommates were in Class B.
The two students who tied for first place both finished their practice in 45 minutes, signed their names with the teaching assistants, and went out to take a shower, which was considered as leaving get out of class early.
Ethan Huo had only jumped two thousand times in forty-five minutes, and was still observing the strength of others.
One after another, several people came with jump ropes to ask the assistant coach for his autograph, and they all looked unfamiliar.
His strength was dwindling and his breathing became disordered.
A familiar figure not far away suddenly stopped, pushed up his silver-rimmed glasses and walked over. After registering his name, he took out a silver PSP from his coat and walked out while playing.
Ethan Huo finally saw his appearance.
Gentle, thin, with narrow and upturned eyes.
He always felt that this person was different from others.
Before the two-hour dance class was over, the acting class was almost full.
The teacher turned out to be the cold and beautiful teaching assistant Grace.
As she walked in, the boys all looked over and their chattering stopped.
"This month's practice and assessment piece is "Fireworks Again," she turned on the computer and pulled out the MV to play simultaneously: "You can learn the dance steps by yourself after class. If you don't understand something, you can ask the teaching assistants during working hours. Don't bother Teacher Pei."
Ethan Huo nodded silently.
I guess Teacher Pei is here to play with his phone professionally.
"The dance steps of 'Fireworks' are actually very simple, and the lyrics are catchy, which is more of a test of the performer's performance ability." She pursed her red lips and raised her eyebrows and said, "How many people have spoofed the dance of this MV themselves?"
Among the forty-five trainees, a few people raised their hands, exactly ten people.
Some people still shook their heads and said, "This piece of music is too simple. There is no need to learn it."
"Come up here," she said with a smile, "and dance for me."
Everybody started to cheer and applaud, and then pushed and chased the trainee out.
The older boy was not afraid either, he danced along with the MV in a very serious manner, and even threw an electric eye before the end, which caused the people in the audience to whistle and cheer.
"Fail." The teaching assistant waved his hand: "Go away, and don't give this level of work again in the future."
Seeing that the trainee had already sat back down, she pointed at Ethan Huo in the first row and said, "Come up and be a teaching aid."
Ethan Huo blinked and obediently stood where she pointed.
Grace didn't play the accompaniment, but raised her hand and put it on his shoulder.
"Everything I want to say is written in the shadow of fireworks."
She slid in front of him with gentle eyes.
"I saw you crying yesterday, and I didn't know how to hug you."
"I am talking nonsense and my heart is not in agreement. I just want to give you these fireworks in the sky."
She danced around him, her hoarse voice and the movements of her fingertips carrying the feeling of love.
"I want to tell you---"
Ethan Huo held his breath and subconsciously tried to make his expression more natural.
"My regards---"
She raised her head and her golden hair spread out like a waterfall. Her voice was sweet and innocent, as if she was confessing her love on the spot.
"Please see my heart."
Ethan Huo looked away and coughed, pretending that he was not aroused.
"Little boy," Brandon Long in the audience shook the mineral water bottle, "You are blushing."
