Three days later, Ryan and Zhang Si, together with the officials from the yamen, came to the western suburbs and led more than 500 villagers to a remote valley that had been arranged in advance for isolation.
Not all of these 500 people were infected with the plague. Some of them came to seek help because they were feeling unwell, had coughs and typhoid fever, and suspected that they were sick and were afraid of dying.
Some of them were suspected of being sick by villagers and were sent here forcibly.
There are about 300 infected people in villages across the county.
It seems that the number of people is not large, not only because the epidemic is well controlled, but because the infected people die too quickly. There are only so many living infected people left, and the number of deaths has no detailed records.
