Maya came back after arranging dinner and was about to sit down when Julian stood up and said, "Sit here."
The seats at the dining table are facing each other, with the extra chair in the middle, right next to the aisle. The restaurant is not crowded, but there are occasional guests passing by in the aisle, so it is inconvenient and not private enough.
Julian pulled out the original chair, and she sat down without any hesitation.
Julian moved to sit in the middle.
