The Siheyuan in Beijing has a long history. Its decoration, carvings and paintings reflect folk customs and traditional culture, and show people's pursuit of happiness, beauty, wealth and auspiciousness. A pot of tea, a piece of zither music, a warm sunshine and a unique tranquility, walking into the Siheyuan in the old Beijing is like walking into another time and space, quiet and peaceful.
Courtyard No. 5 is actually an ordinary courtyard house with two entrances and exits, separated from the Forbidden City by only a wall. The wooden screens, square tables, green bamboos, moon-shaped gates and long corridors make this place particularly quiet and elegant, neither ostentatious nor luxurious.
