Weston slept very shallowly.
If in deep sleep he only needs to sleep for four hours to complete the amount of sleep he needs for a day, then he will have to sleep nearly twice as long when he sleeps very lightly and wakes up with a little disturbance.
Generally speaking, in such an unsafe environment, Weston will not be sleepy.
So even though he seemed to be asleep when he closed his eyes, he didn’t actually let himself go to sleep. As long as there is a slight movement in the hand that is holding him, or a slight movement in the ear, he will immediately open his eyes.
However, it did not.
