Along the coast of City C, the autumn wind was blowing and the sun was blazing. Although it was just the beginning of autumn, the high temperature still enveloped the entire city.

Jiang Yan squeezed out of Fengqing Street and slowly exhaled the foul air that was stuck in his chest. Tiny and dense beads of sweat oozed out of the edges of his hair pressed down by his baseball cap.

He found a bench on the side of the road in the square near Fengqing Street and sat down to rest. He took out a pack of tissues from the dark blue backpack behind him, wiped the sweat from his cheeks and neck, and took out a bottle of purified water to drink.

The hot wind blew on his face, and he was sweating profusely. The summer heat made his cheeks flush.

Passersby occasionally glanced sideways at the young man who was sitting alone on the bench to rest.

The young man under the brim of the hat had a pair of dark and clear doe eyes, red and moist lips, and very fair skin. He seemed to have a good temper. When you looked at him, he would smile at you with his eyes curved, which made the person who was peeping at him feel embarrassed.

After enjoying the breeze for a while, Jiang Yan lowered the brim of his hat and prepared to leave.

His pocket vibrated, and Jiang Yan took out an old smartphone that he had been using for seven or eight years. When he opened WeChat, it took a while to load.

Chen Ye sent a voice message: "The meeting is over. Is it fun in a big city?"

Looking up the conversation history, there were several pictures of the guild hall that Jiang Yan had sent a few hours ago.

Jiang Yan's throat became slightly hoarse due to the heat.

"I walked around the Fengqing Street. There were a lot of people and it was very hot."

It was already a bit cold there as autumn began. Before leaving for City C, Jiang Yan wore a blue sweatshirt and jeans. He didn't expect that City C was so sunny and people coming and going were still wearing summer clothes.

Jiang Yan was born in a remote village in the southwestern border area. The place was poor, conditions were limited, and the ideas were not very advanced. After finishing junior high school in the local school, he stayed in the countryside to help with the work.

His parents both passed away due to illness a few years ago. He lives on his own now. Fortunately, he has a good relationship with his neighbors. Seeing that he lost both parents and has no relatives, people often help him. Chen Ye is a peer who he has played well with since childhood.

This time, more than a dozen provinces and cities joined together to hold the first agricultural conference. As a village receiving special support, the farmers in the village naturally received invitations.

There are basically only middle-aged and elderly people left in the small village, who cannot afford the long-distance travel. In addition, a batch of homemade handmade goods need to be packed and shipped out within a week, so everyone is busy.

Chen Ye is physically strong and nimble, so he has to stay in the village to lead the work. Among the younger generation, Jiang Yan is the only one who can come out, so the farmers sent him out as a representative.

Chen Ye asked him what he thought of the meeting. Jiang Yan thought about it carefully with his phone and replied honestly: "Nothing."

The young man on the other end of the phone laughed out loud: "It's a rare trip to a big city, so why not spend a few more days there."

Jiang Yan blinked his eyelashes, looked around the square, and replied: "Okay."

Chen Ye added: "Your skin peels easily. If you are exposed to the sun over there, buy some sunscreen and apply it. Didn't I buy you two bottles before? Did you bring them?"

Jiang Yan: "I didn't bring it."

Chen Ye said with a "tsk". "You should always carry it with you from now on. You are the face of our village, my dear. We can't treat you badly."

Although the village is remote and isolated, it is also a treasure land with beautiful scenery, and everything produced here is good.

Jiang Yan is the most handsome man in their area. He is handsome and smart. Although he has been working with adults since he was a child, he never gets tanned.

Sometimes he would get too sunburned and peel off, but the new skin on his face was so tender that even people like Chen Ye, who rarely touches him, would come and pinch it.

Hearing this, Jiang Yan retorted: "It's not that exaggerated."

Chen Ye sighed: "Anyway, just listen to my advice and don't ruin your face. Keep it for finding a wife in the future."

Jiang Yan hummed, thinking that finding a wife was still a long way off for him and he had never even fantasized about it.

The two chatted on WeChat, and even though they were sitting under the shade of a tree, Jiang Yan gradually felt dizzy, like a sign of heatstroke.

He closed his eyes and leaned back in his chair until a few breezes blew across his face, which gradually relieved his discomfort.

The latest voice message was posted a few minutes ago. Chen Ye was busy with work and said he would talk to him later.

Jiang Yan put away his phone and prepared to ask someone where the nearest shopping mall is.

He planned to stay in City C for one more night and wanted to go to the commercial center in the afternoon to buy some gifts to bring back for his neighbors and friends.

After asking passers-by and following the signs, Jiang Yan arrived at the pedestrian street.

There were tall buildings lined up on both sides of the street. He looked around at the signs of the surrounding stores and saw a men's clothing store. Just as he was about to go in, he was suddenly attracted by a bunch of rising hot air balloons.

Someone exclaimed, and the glass on several floors shook, followed by countless screams.

Jiang Yan subconsciously dodged and raised his leg to run to the other side.

With a "bang", Jiang Yan's whole body shook and he felt a pain in his back, as if he was hit by something that fell down.

He tried to hold the phone tightly before his consciousness faded, but his fingers became weaker and weaker.

When he opened his eyes again, Jiang Yan thought he was dead.

He opened his dark eyelashes, and saw green everywhere. His ears were in a trance until the chirping of birds gradually became clear.

As if dreams and reality overlapped, Jiang Yan, whose consciousness slowly returned, rolled his eyes and looked around.

If he remembered correctly, he must have encountered an explosion on the pedestrian street and was knocked unconscious by something that fell down.

Is this a dream?

He was groggy, frowned slightly, closed his eyes again, and opened them again.

no change...

Jiang Yan stared blankly above his head and licked the corners of his dry and cracked lips. His body felt heavy and weak, and even bending his fingers was difficult.

The tall buildings lining the streets are gone, replaced by another unfamiliar scene.

The huge tree canopy blocks out the sun, and the sunlight shines in through the branches. Beams of light interweave in the woods, like a dense net of light. If you squint your eyes, you can vaguely see the dust floating in the air.

The sudden cry of a bird made Jiang Yan shiver. He bit his lips tightly, propped himself up with his arms, sat down next to a rock and gasped for breath. While looking around, he struggled to pull the schoolbag hanging behind his shoulder in front of him.

His cell phone was lost after he fell into coma. In his schoolbag was a set of spare clothes, a wallet, keys, papers, a notebook, and the unfinished bottle of purified water.

He opened the bottle cap and drank a few sips of water, temporarily relieving some of the discomfort.

As for my back, the pain still lingers.

Jiang Yan didn't know how he ended up in the deserted jungle in front of him from the pedestrian street of City C, but he had to find a way to get out, otherwise he might be attacked by wild beasts at any time.

There were layers of fallen leaves under my feet, and my nose was filled with the slightly fishy smell of rotting grass and soil.

Jiang Yan stood up shakily, thought for a moment, bent his knees and bent over to loosen half of the laces of his two shoes, and twisted them apart with force.

He was thin, with a small frame and thin wrists. He tied his cuffs tightly with shoelaces and put the hood of his sweatshirt on his head, trying his best to cover himself up tightly to prevent bites from insects in the mountains.

This was also the experience he gained when he went hiking with a group of friends including Chen Ye. At that time, they were young and inexperienced, and they did not cover themselves tightly, allowing many leeches to drill into their flesh and suck their blood.

Jiang Yan looked around and dragged his legs towards the direction where the grass looked less dense. The best plan was to get out of the jungle before sunset, and the worst outcome...

He shook his head and put aside the pessimistic thoughts.

After walking for an unknown amount of time, Jiang Yan reached out to hold onto the tree trunk next to him, barely able to prop up his shaky body.

As we walked along and the sun set, the temperature got lower and lower, even colder than in the countryside.

Jiang Yan was hungry, thirsty, and frightened, so his overall condition was not very good.

If he hadn't relied on psychological suggestion to maintain his sanity, he would probably have collapsed by now.

He took out the remaining half bottle of water and took two sips. Before going out, the remaining water was life-saving water and he didn't dare to drink it easily.

Moreover, all along the way, there was nothing but dense forest in front of us. We didn't encounter any forest ranger rescue stations or hunter's houses, and there was no sign of human habitation at all.

This made him despair.

The light around him was getting darker and darker. Jiang Yan wrapped his sweatshirt tightly, feeling more and more uneasy. Although he didn't want to believe it, he looked at the sky above his head through the tree canopy, and anxiety gradually filled his heart.

When I was lost in thought, my fingertips felt itchy.

Jiang Yan felt goose bumps on the back of his neck. His peripheral vision turned stiffly to his fingers, and a brightly colored spider landed on the back of his hand.

He held his breath and swung the spider with all his strength, nearly breaking his arm. The spider flew to who knows where.

Without daring to stay, Jiang Yan lowered his head and walked away.

He'd better find a place to hide before the night falls completely.

The wind blowing through the forest was getting colder and colder. Jiang Yan's hands and feet were cold, but his body wrapped in clothes was constantly oozing out hot sweat. Perhaps it was because of insects that drilled into his skin through the gaps and bit him. Several places on his skin were itchy and hot, and a bit painful.

His legs and feet became heavier and heavier, and Jiang Yan seemed to hear the sound of water in a trance. He was shocked by the sound, thinking that where there is water, there may be people living nearby.

With this thought in mind, when Jiang Yan rushed to the bank of a river, his last hope was shattered as night fell.

The river was about an arm's width, and the grass on both sides was taller than his knees.

Hunger and thirst prompted him to do something. Jiang Yan licked his lips repeatedly, raised the wooden stick in his hand, and slowly pressed down the grass, creating a small passage that could be walked into.

He stepped on the wet mud bank and saw clear water. Just as he was about to get some water to wash his face to wake himself up, he saw several nimble snakes emerging from the water, and they were clearly aiming at him.

Jiang Yan stepped back with a pale face and ran away without looking back.

The sky fell into complete darkness, and the vast jungle welcomed many wild beasts, which howled and reveled in the bleak and cold night.

Jiang Yan hid in a shallow and narrow rock pit with difficulty. He stood there for a while with his body stiff. Every inch of his skin was burning and stinging, and the blood vessels under his skin were beating violently.

Sweat keeps seeping out of the pores, and when the wind blows, I feel hot and sticky.

He held his breath and looked at the boundless darkness, only to see two bright lights emerging from the direction of the darkness.

Something seemed to be approaching.

Jiang Yan's heart was in his throat. He had no time to think. He relied on instinct alone and burst out with unprecedented strength to quickly leave the rock wall.

Relying on his instinct for survival, he ran hard into the unknown dark jungle.
