In the Xuan Room, Emperor Jing was sitting in front of a low table, with a bamboo scroll spread out in front of him, and a pen in his hand, but he was reluctant to put it down. The eunuch bowed and walked into the hall, took away the hot soup that had not been touched, and presented the newly made honey cakes in the palace.

Seeing the lacquer tray filled with honey cakes, Emperor Jing frowned and said, "Take it away."

"I promise."

The eunuch's face turned pale, and he quickly removed the lacquer tray and served the hot soup and steamed cakes that Emperor Jing usually ate.

When Liu Che entered the palace to pay his respects, Emperor Jingdi had just pushed the bamboo slips aside and took a sip of the hot soup. Before he could put down the lacquer cup, he suddenly started coughing violently.
