After Blake Song finished speaking, he looked around at everyone whose faces were pale.
Ethan couldn't help but feel a sense of fear. If he really continued to linger in the Clock Square in an attempt to escape, he would probably be completely destroyed after the safe time was up.
"There are still five minutes before the bell rings. What are your plans?" Blake Song looked back at the time on the clock tower and asked everyone solemnly.
Several people looked at each other, shook their heads, and remained silent.
"Why bother with so many things? Just run out. You'll be safe if you can hold out until dawn anyway." Logan Zhao said viciously, waving the crowbar in his hand.
"That means there is nothing left. In that case, let me make a suggestion." Blake Song repeatedly sheathed and unsheathed the dagger in his hand, as if he was playing with it.
Ethan noticed that Tyler Liu seemed to want to say something, but in this crisis situation he couldn't think of a better way, so he had to let Blake Song lead the topic.
"Zombies have senses of smell and hearing. Judging from the time of 8 o'clock in the evening, most students are either in class or in the dormitory. As long as we try to find places with fewer people, the number of zombies we will encounter will be greatly reduced. I estimate that there are two areas with the least number of zombies."
Blake Song used stones to draw a simple diagram on the ground. "One is the large playground in the northwest, including the basketball court and gymnasium. The other is the new school building in the southeast, including the student activity center, open-air square and Freedom Square. The wind direction tonight is northwest, so theoretically we will have a relatively favorable position downwind in the southeast. The southeast of the school is not only open, but also has many water systems, which almost surrounds that area, which is very helpful in preventing wandering zombies."
Blake Song looked at the time again and frowned, "I don't have time to explain the route in detail. The bell is about to ring. If you believe me, follow me. I will explain it to you on the way."
Ethan was the first to catch up with Blake Song, followed by Clara Zhou and Naomi Gao. Logan Zhao looked at the bell tower and followed. Tyler Liu stood there looking around suspiciously, then gritted his teeth and caught up with the main group.
"Hey, this is not the direction to the Student Activity Center!" Tyler Liu shouted.
"To go directly to the Student Activity Center, we have to pass through the circle of teaching buildings, which is too dangerous. We can go directly to the stadium by going from the west side of the square, bypassing Building A. If we time it right, the get out of class bell will ring when we arrive at the stadium, and the zombies on the commercial street of the South Dormitory Area south of the stadium will also move towards the square. We can pass through there easily," Blake Song explained patiently as he walked quickly to the edge of the square, "and then pass the library in the center of the school to reach the Student Activity Center in the southeast. Believe me, this is the safest route."
They were already out of the square, and the few of them stopped talking. As soon as they stepped out of the safe zone, a few zombies wandering around outside the square began to stagger towards them.
Perhaps because he was braver after joining the team in large numbers, Ethan ran to the front of Blake Song, who was leading the team, knocked a zombie over with a stick and kicked it aside. Blake Song glanced at him but didn't say anything.
To the north of the clock square and Building A is the lake that forms the campus water system and the artificial river that surrounds the entire A-G building. After crossing the bridge over the river, the barbed wire surrounding the stadium can be seen in front of us. The entire stadium is quite large and is roughly divided into several parts: basketball court, tennis court, auxiliary stadium, sports building, main stadium and gymnasium. After entering from the east gate facing the square, you can go to the south gate and reach the commercial street of the South Dormitory Area by crossing the cement road.
There weren't many people in the stadium at this time. Apart from people doing evening exercises, probably only energetic boys would come here to play basketball.
The music for the end of get out of class sounded from the bell tower, and Blake Song stopped in his tracks. Zombies from far and near let out wild beast-like growls, rising and falling like a chorus.
Only when he heard that voice did Ethan realize how scared he was.
A predator that lurks in the darkness and can never be killed.
The six people stood on the cement road of the stadium, and no one spoke. The surrounding street lights were not very bright, and the shadows were dim because of the shrubs and sycamores. The barbed wire on both sides separated the basketball court and the tennis court. They were like being trapped in this stadium.
In the distance, two zombies were staggering towards them. Logan Zhao spat on the ground, raised the crowbar and rushed forward. With two bangs, he hit the two zombies, causing their brains to burst. Their bodies flew out and hit the wire mesh with a loud bang.
Ethan couldn't help but frown, and was glad that the bell for the end of get out of class had attracted the attention of most of the zombies nearby.
"Now the zombies are moving towards the square, but their speed is very slow. Let's wait a while before going out from the south exit. We can take a short break now. Everyone ran too fast just now. If we continue to consume our energy, it will not be easy to survive until dawn." Blake Song said.
The two girls let out a long sigh and sat down weakly on the flower bed next to the wire fence of the tennis court.
The sound of the wind brought the faint growls of zombies. Ethan pinched his ears, thinking he had heard it wrong. When he turned around, he met Blake Song's wary eyes.
"Don't sit there!" Blake Song suddenly yelled.
The two girls were stunned, then heard a loud bang behind them, and they jumped up from the flower bed in fright.
A bleeding face was pressed against the wire mesh, with ten fingers tightly gripping the wire. The face, distorted by fear, looked so terrifying under the street light.
"Save me, save me! I don't want to die, I don't want to die---!!!"
The voice distorted by extreme fear was piercing in the night, as if the heart was being dug out of the chest.
The two girls almost cried and screamed as they crawled back. The man lying on the wire fence of the tennis court struggled again, but unfortunately the zombies behind him had completely surrounded him. He tried to climb up, but several zombies bit his ankles and calves and dragged him back to the ground again. The sound of the body hitting the wire fence, the sound of bones breaking, the sound of skin being torn, the sound of hands and feet being torn off, the disgusting chewing sound and the screaming before death... All of this lingered in the night for a long time.
Under the dim street lights, one could vaguely see how the zombies were lying on the ground and devouring the humans who were still alive the moment before. One of them pulled hard, and something like a piece of intestine was thrown out, and it hit the wire mesh with a snap. Blood was splashed out of the gap between the wire meshes. A zombie that couldn't squeeze in staggered to the wire mesh, and while roaring ferociously at the people outside the mesh, it grabbed the piece of intestine and stuffed it into its mouth, and its head kept hitting the wire mesh, as if it wanted to eat up the people outside the mesh.
Clara Zhou, who was sitting in front of the wire mesh, touched the warm liquid that suddenly splashed on her face. The color of the liquid could not be seen through her black gloves, but she suddenly seemed to understand something and screamed hysterically. Naomi Gao stared at Clara Zhou blankly, screaming like crazy, with no reaction in her empty eyes.
"Ethan, take Naomi Gao with you, let's go!" Blake Song covered Clara Zhou's mouth and threatened viciously, "Shut up, if you don't want to end up like that guy, shut up!"
Ethan pulled up the stunned Naomi Gao and dragged her towards the south gate of the stadium.
Tyler Liu, who had been sitting on the ground without making a sound, finally remembered the danger here. He crawled up from the ground and staggered after him.
Ethan's mind was empty and he just ran instinctively. The shock of seeing a living person being dismembered by zombies was much stronger than seeing the zombies themselves. The tragic scene of having hands and feet torn off and intestines pulled out by zombies was something that could only be seen in horror movies for a college student living in a peaceful world. However, he knew the reality of the moment too well.
If he couldn't escape, he would die like that man, in fear, despair and extreme pain.
Live, you must live!
