The 11-hour long journey finally came to an end.
As soon as Ethan Gu got off the plane, he saw an off-road vehicle with military license plates parked on the tarmac. A young man in his twenties, wearing high-top military boots, with his hands in his pockets, was leaning against the car door as if no one was around.
Ethan Gu subconsciously curled the corners of his lips and walked towards the other party.
The young man next to the SUV also saw Ethan Gu at the same time. He took a few steps forward, hugged Ethan Gu tightly, and said, "Welcome back." Then he took a step back, looked at him for a while, and looked surprised, "It seems that you are doing well outside."
"How can it compare to Young Master Wei's glory of commanding the respect of everyone?" Ethan Gu answered easily.
Jordan Wei couldn't help but laugh: "Didn't you learn this from Gu Shao?" As soon as he said this, he felt something was wrong, and quickly patted the car and changed the subject, "Come on, get in the car, I've asked for a seat in Guose Tianxiang, Mason Lin has been there every Thursday, and we brothers haven't met properly for three years."
Ethan Gu nodded, and after a few words, his expression had returned to calm, without the intimacy that he had inadvertently revealed when he just got off the plane.
The off-road vehicle started and drove out along the airport without any obstruction.
Ethan Gu adjusted his seat and leaned back to relax. The interior and rearview mirrors of the car showed his appearance dimly: short hair, young face, pale complexion, a little thin... He suddenly opened his eyes, his eyes penetrated the mirror, and his whole person became sharp.
Jordan Wei said at the side: "Did your old man agree to let you come back? He is usually much gentler than my grandfather, but once he gets serious, no one can persuade him. Back then, your uncle insisted on marrying a woman that the old man didn't like, and he was directly kicked out with one leg broken. Now it has been more than ten years and he is still not allowed to come back. In the end, it is because you, the third-generation grandson, have a lot of face that you can persuade the old man to agree..."
Ethan Gu sneered: "It wasn't the old man who gave in. I ran back on my own."
Jordan Wei's steering wheel almost slipped. He glanced at Ethan Gu in surprise: "You came back by yourself? They don't know?" He frowned, "Why don't I cancel the party? We grew up together and won't say anything."
"It's okay, that's perfect." Ethan Gu said, "Now that I'm back, I'm ready."
After hearing what Ethan Gu said, Jordan Wei felt relieved and turned to talk about other things: "I heard that when you went out, Uncle Gu specially assigned a few soldiers from the army to go outside with you? Just to keep an eye on you, but I didn't expect... what are you wearing on your wrist?" he suddenly asked. From the moment he met Ethan Gu, the bracelet on the other's hand attracted his attention, but he didn't have the courage to ask when they first met. Now, after chatting for a few sentences and regaining the familiarity of the past, he couldn't help but speak.
"Your Majesty." Ethan Gu said nonchalantly, and then seeing Jordan Wei who looked a little puzzled, he explained, "I received an antique, made of mutton-fat jade."
"This color is really good." Jordan Wei said, and looked at the bracelet several times: it was a string of 18 milky white beads, each of which was carved differently and not in regular order, and overall it looked simple and rough. But the unique moist feeling of mutton-fat jade made people feel round and smooth, and it looked very strange at first glance.
"Where did you get this?" Jordan Wei asked, and thought that both the texture and the color were too beautiful. But people like them couldn't afford to embarrass themselves by buying a fake. "I'll buy one tomorrow and give it to my old lady for her birthday."
"I searched all the foreign markets and only saw this one, but I have some similar seed materials. I will send them to you later and you can find someone to polish and carve it yourself." Ethan Gu said, turning the milky white bracelet on his left wrist.
"That's great. How much did you get?" Jordan Wei asked.
Ethan Gu raised his eyebrows: "Brothers are talking about this when they are giving each other gifts? It's not cheap at all."
Jordan Wei smiled, and when he was about to speak, the cell phone in the car rang. He picked it up and listened to a few words, his face turned grim.
"What's the matter?" Ethan Gu asked.
"Darren Sun is here again." Jordan Wei said to Ethan Gu during a break in the phone call. Then he said to the other end of the phone in front of Ethan Gu, "What kind of person is this? He comes here to make a fuss. Give him some face. Do you really think he is such a big shot? Tell him that he has no place in our gathering!"
The person on the other end of the line hesitated for a moment: "It's just a small matter, so why should you be so serious? Master Wei, I think Master Sun is quite sincere."
Ethan Gu, who was sitting in the passenger seat, saw Jordan Wei's arm move and was about to throw the phone away. Before Jordan Wei got angry, he said, "Come on."
Jordan Wei paused, suppressed his anger and said a few words to the other party before throwing the phone back to its place.
The two of them walked in silence all the way to Guose Tianxiang. After Jordan Wei stopped the car and handed the keys to the doorman who came over, he heaved a sigh of relief and said, "What kind of thing is this? That guy is really trying to make you uncomfortable."
"Just him?" Ethan Gu and Jordan Wei walked in side by side. The beautiful foreman had sharp eyes and greeted them with a smile as soon as the two entered the door:
"Master Wei, Master Gu, long time no see! This morning a magpie called at the window, and I thought about it and decided to stay at Yiqing Tower. This is what happened to you two."
"I came here with my friends today and booked Qianhe Pavilion. We can go there by ourselves." Jordan Wei had just met Ethan Gu and was impatient with someone following him. He sent away the foreman and smiled at Ethan Gu:
"I haven't seen you for three years, but Master Gu is still as powerful as ever. Sun Er has been jumping around a lot these past few years, and it's time to teach him a lesson. Their family is still lacking in this."
Ethan Gu curled the corners of his lips but did not respond.
Qianhe Pavilion is built in the backyard of Guose Tianxiang. It is an independent building with ancient decoration separated from the main building.
The two of them walked through the hanging flower gate and onto the small stone bridge. Under the stone bridge, koi were swimming back and forth in groups, creating ripples. A few of them swam to the bottom of the building, listening blankly to the laughter and conversation coming from the building.
The small pond meanders from the entrance to the front of Qianhe Pavilion, and the eaves of the two-story building reflect the rippling water. The person sitting by the window on the second floor drinking tea was the first to notice the two people, and pushed open the window pane to look down: "Oh, Master Gu and Master Wei are finally here, we have been looking forward to it for a long time."
Jordan Wei walked into Qianhe Pavilion, took a quick look and saw that he didn't see anyone who didn't know what to do. His expression relaxed a lot and a smile appeared on his face: "It's my fault for coming late. I'll drink three cups to make amends later."
What is Jordan Wei's identity? He is the only son of the Wei family in three generations. The current old man of the Wei family is an old general who accompanied the founding father to conquer the world. He has a say in politics and his influence in the military is unimaginable. Even if he is willing to drink these three glasses of wine, others dare not take them casually. At that moment, someone laughed and said, "Today everyone is here to welcome Master Gu. Master Wei and Master Gu have a good relationship, so don't show it all by yourself. You should give us some opportunities to show our abilities."
"I don't know Wei San?" Ethan Gu smiled and said, "Don't worry about him, let's have a drink together."
There was only one person here who was so dignified as to call himself Wei San, and Wei Shao was listening with a smile. Several people present exchanged ambiguous glances, and immediately several people sitting at the back opened the bottles and poured wine for everyone.
Ethan Gu raised his glass first and said, "It's been three years since we last met. I'll drink first as a sign of respect. You can do as you please."
Everyone was polite, and without exception, they all drank the wine in their glasses with Ethan Gu.
Ethan Gu picked up a bottle of wine from the low table at random, then picked up a bottle of Louis XIII and threw it to Jordan Wei.
Jordan Wei took the wine without caring about anything else. He simply filled a glass, raised it towards Ethan Gu, and drank it in one gulp.
The gloom in Ethan Gu's eyes dissipated a lot, and then he drank it in one gulp.
After three cups of this, others came up to talk to Ethan Gu, talking about the past three years and asking about Ethan Gu's situation abroad. But no matter what the topic was, Ethan Gu seemed indifferent, and only said a few more words when Jordan Wei came close. After a few times, others understood his intentions and went out of their way to talk and have fun with others, leaving the space for the two of them.
Before he knew it, he had finished most of the bottle. Jordan Wei put down his glass, exhaled, and leaned back in his chair. The people next to him saw him and wanted to pour him some wine, but he waved his hand to refuse. He took the bottle and poured some for himself, and then added some for Ethan Gu. "I never asked you seriously, how you were doing during your years abroad?" He turned the glass in his hand and looked at Ethan Gu with a slightly strange expression, "But to be honest, if you said you weren't doing well, I wouldn't really believe it..."
Ethan Gu smiled when he heard this.
Jordan Wei was almost stunned by such a smile. He shook his head and couldn't help saying, "You have changed so much after going out. You really have come back with a layer of gold!"
"Really?" Ethan Gu didn't care much.
"Do I need to flatter you?" Jordan Wei raised his eyebrows and said, "I can't go with you to pick up girls in the future."
"Don't worry, if you have any eyes on someone in the future, I will help you to fish for him. I guarantee that you will be successful." Ethan Gu said with a smile.
"Did you end up in your own bed or mine?" Jordan Wei said unhappily. He then paused for a moment and mentioned again, "You are abroad..."
"I'm doing very well." Ethan Gu answered the other person straightforwardly this time. He paused and added, "Very well."
"Tell me more specifically?" Jordan Wei raised his eyebrows.
"Let me think about it. A master's degree, three bachelor's degrees..." said Ethan Gu.
"Yo!"
"I also knocked down the two special forces soldiers who blocked your way several times and tied them to the table to avenge you. Are you satisfied?"
"Wow!!" Jordan Wei was really shocked. "Really?"
"Why else would I come back?" Ethan Gu said indifferently, obviously not very interested in this topic, "Those two were caught off guard. I guess they must be feeling very uncomfortable being babysitters."
"They are so crazy. If I hadn't been watching you, I would have taught them a lesson long ago." Having said this, Jordan Wei explained in a low voice to Ethan Gu. The other people in the building had already taken out cards and dice to play together in twos and threes. "Your situation was not very good at that time, and I didn't dare to make any trouble..." He suddenly thought of something, "How do you know how many times I have been there?" He did not mention this matter when he was chatting with Ethan Gu, and it was even more impossible for the two special forces who were blocking him.
Just as Ethan Gu was about to answer, a voice came from outside the door:
"Is everyone here? Looks like I'm late."
The noise in the box suddenly quieted down. Jordan Wei's face darkened and he placed the cup heavily on the table.
The young man who came in with several people had a trace of displeasure on his face, but in the blink of an eye, he showed a smiling face again: "Long time no see, Young Master Wei, Young Master Zhang, Young Master Zhou, everyone is here, oh---" He suddenly dragged out his voice, "Excuse me, even Young Master Gu is here! It's my fault, my eyes were not working well just now and I didn't see clearly, when did Young Master Gu come back? Is it fun abroad? It must be fun, otherwise how come I haven't seen Young Master Gu for three years."
"Young Master Sun, do you know why you haven't seen me for a long time?" Sitting upright on a carved wooden chair, Jordan Wei's face sank and he naturally revealed a solemnity that was unique to a military family. He said calmly, "Because I don't like you and don't want to see you hanging around in front of me. Is that clear enough, Sun Er?"
This slap on the face was real, and Sun Er, who was standing by the door, had a sinister look in his eyes.
The box was quiet.
The man sitting in the corner put his hands in his pockets and pressed a few buttons. The man not far from him took out his vibrating phone and glanced at the screen. Seeing the words "Master Wei is determined to stand up for Master Gu...", he gave the other person a hidden and tacit smile and quietly pressed the keyboard a few times:
"Isn't it? What happened three years ago should happen today."
"How could I not know that you've been there?" A leisurely voice broke the somewhat stagnant atmosphere in the box. Ethan Gu seemed to be unconcerned about the undercurrent in front of him and continued with the previous topic, "Brothers for more than ten years, I still don't know what kind of person you are and what kind of things you will do?" He paused, turned his head and smiled at Sun Er, but the smile did not reach his eyes:
"It's been a long time, Mr. Sun."
