The first place winner of the horror story contest, Mr. Nathan, received his reward the next day, a cream cake made by Avery himself.

Because the process of making cream cake is quite complicated, Avery usually doesn't make it. In the winter, he was free anyway, so he simply moved the charcoal basin to the kitchen and made a big cake with snow-white cream for everyone to eat as a dessert. On the cake, he also put the canned cherries and oranges he made before. Avery also wrote "First Place" on it with melted chocolate sauce to encourage the winners.

Although it was the first time to make it, and there was no way to use the oven because of the power outage, Avery simply baked the cake with charcoal fire. Of course, the appearance and taste of such a cake were much worse than those baked in the oven, but once the snow-white cream was applied, there didn't seem to be much difference in appearance. The top layer of the cake was fruit and some chocolate crumbs. Nathan held the knife for a long time without making a move. Avery smiled and said, "Have you eaten it before?"

Nathan said, "No." He seemed to feel a little embarrassed after he said that, so he paused for a moment and added, "But I have seen it."
