On the 29th day of the fifth month of the eighteenth year of the Hongzhi reign, the late emperor was buried and the mourning period began the next day.
On June Gengshen day, the Ministry of Rites proposed the title of emperor, and posthumously named him "Emperor Jiantian Mingdao Chengchun Zhongzheng Shengwen Shenwu Zhiren Dadejing", and the temple name "Emperor Xiaozong".
The Left Vice Minister of the Ministry of Works and the sorcerers selected auspicious mountains and rivers for the site, and the Director of the Imperial Observatory selected an auspicious day, and fixed October as Gengwu to bury the late emperor at Shijiatai, west of Maoling. The military and civilians were mobilized to excavate the "Tai Mausoleum".
"The main force is strong, the climate, water and soil are gathered, and the gods can be worshipped."
When the ceremonial note was submitted, Zhu Houzhao did not agree immediately, but instead sent eunuchs Fu An, Li Xing, Tan Guan, and Wang Hua, the right vice minister of the Ministry of Works, to evaluate it again.
