Jaxton missed Lacey’s voice, breath, temperature, and the way she looked at him, the chuckle that pressed against his ear, the fingers that stroked his neck and shoulders… He couldn’t reproduce the past clearly in his mind The scene, fragmented fragments are enough to make him bound by thoughts.
At six o’clock in the evening, the plane landed at Boston Airport.
Jaxton took a car and set off from Boston through the “Longfellow Bridge” and quickly arrived in Cambridge. The driver parked the car on the side of the road. Jaxton called Lacey again. She ran down the stairs in a hurry and happily went straight to Jaxton: “I miss you so much!”
In the biting cold wind, Lacey’s face was slightly red from the cold. Her eyes were astonishingly bright, as if there were stars flickering in the sky, and the white-lighted street lamps lengthened her reflection. She said again: “I miss you so much.”
Lacey broke through Jaxton’s line of defense with only four words. He reached out to her and was caught by her. She asked softly: “Do you miss me?”
