Huandong Shopping Center, Marketing Intern.

This was Henry Gu's first job after graduating from university.

The department manager took him back from the HR manager, gave him a few brief instructions, and then hurried out for a meeting. The former colleague in charge of the handover was named Chu Tingting. She seemed to be quite resentful of the company. When she was packing up, she was making a lot of noise, and she wanted to smash a hole in the table. Fortunately, Henry Gu was well-educated and patient. He stood by and waited for 20 minutes until she threw the last pot of cactus back into the box, then he bent down slightly and asked, "Hello, can we start the handover now?"

He has a nice voice and a handsome and delicate appearance. The youthfulness of schoolboy that has not yet completely faded away makes him look clean and harmless, especially his facial features when he smiles. It is really hard to dislike him.

Chu Tingting softened her attitude and pointed at a chair, motioning him to sit down.

"Thank you." Henry Gu opened the hardcover notebook. The fingers holding the pen were slender and white. Chu Tingting couldn't help but take a closer look, but noticed that there were some very light embroidery on his cuffs, which reflected a faint silver light in the sun, and were matched with mother-of-pearl buttons. It was low-key and exquisite, and looked very expensive.

Rich second generation? she thought.

Why do you want to do such a boring job?

"Sister Tingting?" Seeing that she was slow to speak, Henry Gu had to remind her softly.

"Oh." Chu Tingting came back to her senses and began to explain the work content one by one. Huandong Shopping Center is one of the oldest commercial complexes in the city. The business scope is quite wide, and there is certainly a lot of work in the marketing department. The most trivial parts are all done by newcomers, from proofreading promotional brochures to signing accounts reimbursement. Henry Gu's pen tip quickly moved on the paper, and soon filled up two full pages.

"That's about it." Chu Tingting took a sip of water. "If you still don't understand something, just ask them." She pointed her chin around and raised her voice, "Don't be too honest. If you keep silent and do everything by yourself, you will end up working yourself to death and not end up well."

The other colleagues were staring at their computer screens, pretending not to hear. Henry Gu smiled and said, "Thank you."

"I haven't finished yet." Chu Tingting handed him another stack of information. "The high-end member tour group of the C City branch will arrive the day after tomorrow. You will be responsible for the entire reception. Have you ever been a tour guide?"

Henry Gu was silent for a moment after hearing this, and asked: "How many people are there in total?"

Chu Tingting replied: "Fifty."

Henry Gu asked again: "What about the company? Should I handle it alone?"

Chu Tingting thought for a moment and said, "There is also the driver, Old Yan."

...

Competition in the retail industry is fierce. Even the Huandong Shopping Center, which has been leading in performance year after year, has to find ways to maintain good customer service in various regions. This tour group of 50 people is a mid-year benefit for high-end members.

That night, Henry Gu came out of the bathroom, drying his hair, and dialed the number for help. The unfortunate off-site friend who was selected was named Du Tiantian, who was Henry Gu's senior, graduated two years earlier, and currently worked as a salesperson in a well-known daily chemical group. He worked very hard during the day, and had to be a magic conch for his junior at night, which made him feel very miserable.

"So you just said that Blake Lu left the high-end customers of the C City branch to you alone to serve?" Du Tiantian sat on the bed with a messy head. "You? Alone?"

Blake Lu is the president of Huandong Group, a well-known industry leader. However, Henry Gu was not in the mood to explain that his rank was not high enough to enter the president's office. He went straight to the point and said, "Yes."

"Then why would I still work?" Du Tiantian slapped the bed excitedly. "Think about it, there are fifty rich women. Do you have any new ideas?"

Henry Gu said simply: "Get lost!"

Du Tiantian was very happy. He leaned back on the pillow and continued to talk casually: "Isn't it just taking members to the scenic spot to eat, drink and have fun? You are a local, what do you have to worry about? If it was really difficult, they wouldn't give it to you, an intern."

"I have face blindness and poor navigation skills." Henry Gu frowned, "and I don't have any experience in taking care of people." From this afternoon till now, he has imagined dozens of possible accidents, including but not limited to customers getting carsick, customers quarreling, customers getting heatstroke, customers getting food poisoning, customers getting lost, customers going missing, and customers suddenly suffering from acute appendicitis.

Du Tiantian sighed, "How can this be a high-end member tour group? It's clearly a gathering of the unlucky people in the universe." However, despite his sighs, he still conscientiously chatted with her until one in the morning, and before hanging up the phone, he yawned and blackmailed her for a meal.

"No problem, thank you, senior." Henry Gu closed the pen cap, "You should rest early."

"Why are you being so polite to me?" Du Tiantian paused for a moment, but couldn't help asking, "Well, are you really going to continue working at Huandong? Just doing marketing?"

The person on the other end of the line didn't speak.

"Forget it, forget it, just pretend I didn't say anything." Du Tiantian tried to smooth things over, "Huandong is fine."

"What's good about it?" Henry Gu pursed his lips.

"The treatment is good. Blake Lu is well-known for being generous to his subordinates and for being protective of them. If you perform better, you'll get a promotion and a raise in the next two years." Du Tiantian advised him, "Isn't that how work is?" They are all the same people, and they all have to run around to get a better life.

"Well, my salary is pretty good." Henry Gu said with a smile, "Good night, senior."

The night is very quiet.

Henry Gu sat at the table and checked the itinerary for this tour. The itinerary for the second day after the members arrived was to go to Pudong Mountain, which has beautiful scenery and cool climate. It is a famous birthplace of Taoism. Although Henry Gu has been there several times, he is born with a lack of sense of direction. Finding the way is basically as difficult as finding gold. It would be too tragic to get lost in the mountains with fifty high-end members, so he decided to pay for it himself and find a professional tour guide to go with him.

The sound of the time was faintly heard from the square in the distance. At four o'clock in the morning, Henry Gu finally finished all the procedures and threw himself on the bed, wanting to faint.

This day's work seemed over-fulfilled, but it felt...not bad.

Colorful dreams followed one after another, and were finally interrupted by the gentle light. Henry Gu yawned and held the toothbrush in his mouth: "Mom, don't make juice, I want coffee."

"It was already three o'clock last night and you still weren't asleep. What were you doing?" Mother Gu complained dissatisfiedly in the kitchen.

"Company matters." Henry Gu wiped his face clean. "It's my first job, so I have to perform better."

Mother Gu was very satisfied with this answer. She nudged Professor Gu next to her with her elbow and whispered, "Son, you are very happy and positive. I think you are worrying for nothing."

"Yes, yes, yes." Father Gu nodded, knowing how to get along with his wife. "You are right, all right."

Huandong Shopping Center is located in a golden business district and is basically congested from eight in the morning to eight in the evening. Henry Gu gave up the idea of   driving and rode a shared yellow car all the way to the subway station, then was shocked by the spectacular and winding queue.

The magical conch Du Tiantian played a role again, remotely controlling the junior to ride all the way to Heqing Road, where he took bus No. 188. Although there were many people, Henry Gu, who was stuck to the door of the car, felt a little relieved when he saw the traffic outside the window like a static painting.

Bus lanes benefit the country and the people, and are environmentally friendly.

He arrived at the company just in time to clock in. Department Manager Li Yun handed him a final list of members' tour groups. Henry Gu took a careful look and found that most of them were middle-aged aunts. This was consistent with the positioning of Huandong's store in City C - the middle class with affluent families.

"Are there any other questions about the work?" Li Yun asked. She liked this young man very much.

"No more." Henry Gu looked at his notebook. "I will go to the supermarket downstairs and pick out some local specialties as membership gifts. The budget per person is 300 yuan. I will bring them to you for review. During the lunch break, I will go to the pharmacy to buy some regular medicines. In the afternoon, I will go to the fleet to find the driver Lao Yan. I have asked the human resources department, and he will not come to work until 4 o'clock today."

Li Yun nodded: "Then go ahead and get busy. If you have any questions, feel free to ask your colleagues. The atmosphere in our department is very good. After this busy period is over, I will hold a small welcome party for you."

...

The shopping center has its own large supermarket. Henry Gu walked around the local produce area and quickly picked out some cooked food and pastries. After packing them into gift boxes, they were surprisingly large and visually impressive. During the break, WeChat flashed, and all his friends sent him love and care, asking about his work experience. Henry Gu took a photo of the big red gift box in front of him and replied uniformly - Very good, busy.

Everyone who received the photos sighed, they never expected that the cool little white flower that they had carefully nurtured in college would now be packaging dried plums, tofu and cured meat in the supermarket. After sighing, the messages in the group flashed more violently, and everyone asked Henry Gu to treat them to a meal at the weekend, for his new job and for his new life.

Henry Gu didn't have time to reply for the moment. He squeezed into the manager's office with the gift box on his shoulder. Li Yun was amused when she saw him: "Are you planning to empty the supermarket?"

"It's within budget." Henry Gu explained, "The total price is two hundred and sixty-seven."

"Don't you think there's something wrong with these things?" Li Yun motioned him to sit on the sofa.

Henry Gu hesitated and shook his head.

"According to the activity plan, when will the members leave our S city?" Li Yun asked.

"August 13th, check out at 10:30 in the morning, have lunch at Haiyan Hua Ting at 12 noon, and then take the bus directly to the airport." Henry Gu memorized the process very well, but after memorizing it, he suddenly realized what Li Yun meant. These local specialties are farewell gifts, which should be placed on the dining chairs of Haiyan Hua Ting and let everyone take them on the bus. Imagine that on the last day of the trip, you still have to carry this big, heavy and worthless gilded box through security check and onto the plane. Not to mention high-end members, even ordinary customers would probably choose to throw it away directly.

Henry Gu was a little embarrassed: "I understand."

"Go ahead." Li Yun said with a smile, "But the things you picked are all good. Pick two or three from them. And don't use the gift box. Just use Huandong's environmentally friendly shopping bags."

"Okay." Henry Gu returned to the supermarket and waited to re-order the gifts. It was already past one in the afternoon and he had no time to eat. While eating a sandwich, he found a nearby pharmacy and bought drugs for colds, fevers, heatstroke, motion sickness, diarrhea, and indigestion. As he was sweating from the sun, the cashier's eyes showed a little more sympathy - it was pitiful that he had become a frequent patient at such a young age.

At this moment, in front of the drugstore, a black business car was slowly driving by. It looked arrogant and wild, as if it was about to roar up and destroy the world with the Decepticons in the next moment.

The Transformer turned the corner and drove all the way to Huandong's underground parking lot. The assistant opened an email: "Mr. Lu, this is the information about the Xinxin Department Store."

Blake Lu took a quick look and saw that the building in the picture was dilapidated, with sports equipment piled up in the glass counter and clothes hanging in a mess on the rack.

"This is the closest shopping mall to the Pudong Mountain Scenic Area. I don't know how it ended up like this." The assistant said, "The last time Mr. Yang went there for an on-site inspection, he thought he had strayed into a filming location from the 1980s in a film and television city."

"Listen to Yang Yi." Blake Lu closed the computer, "ask him to postpone his schedule for the day after tomorrow and go to Pudong Mountain with me again."
