The journey from the police station to the detention center was only about 20 minutes, but it felt like a century. My nervous heart was pounding against my chest, making my already exhausted body restless.

How could that be? I didn’t do anything illegal except gambling. I took the money, but I didn’t give the car to Wang Liqiang because he didn’t pay enough!

Is it really that unlucky in one’s birth year?

The detention center was a very large courtyard. I followed the instructions and first deposited all my belongings in a room, untied my shoelaces, cut the zippers and buttons on my clothes, then walked through the courtyard, entered a gate, and stood in front of a locked door. The police said, "Take off your clothes."

I didn't have many clothes to wear in the end of summer, so after I took them off, the policeman looked me over and over, then opened the second door.
